Automated Bank Reconciliation in Sage 300
International and regulated businesses may operate many bank accounts across currencies and legal entities. Manual matching consumes finance time and can delay the investigation of missing, duplicated or incorrectly coded transactions. The control objective is not simply to clear items quickly. It is to identify exceptions promptly and preserve evidence of review.

Why bank reconciliation becomes a bottleneck
What can be automated
Sage 300 Bank Services supports the recording and reconciliation of bank activity. With an appropriate statement-import and matching solution, the process can also import electronic statement data, compare dates, amounts and references, propose matches and isolate exceptions for review.
RecXpress can extend the process by reading supported bank files and applying configured rules. File formats, bank coverage and automatic posting behaviour must be confirmed for each implementation. They should not be described as universal Sage 300 functions unless they are included in the selected configuration.
Controls should remain visible
Automation improves speed when it directs staff attention to the transactions that require judgement. It should not remove review or imply regulatory compliance by itself.
- Separate matched transactions from unresolved exceptions.
- Restrict who can create, approve and post adjustments.
- Retain the imported statement and reconciliation evidence.
- Review old unmatched items and unusual adjustments.
- Reconcile at the frequency required by the organisation and any applicable client-money rules.
A practical implementation approach
GoalTech first reviews the bank accounts, file formats, transaction volumes and posting rules. The team then configures matching logic, tests representative exceptions and agrees the approval process. This approach supports groups operating across Europe and the Middle East, where banking formats and control requirements may differ by country.
